Hersteller: Balvenie Distillery

Die Destillerie Balvenie wurde im Jahre 1892 von William Grant gegründet und liegt in direkter Nachbarschaft zur Glenfiddich Distillery an den Hängen der Convals nahe Dufftown. 1965 und 1971 wurde die Brennerei renoviert und ausgebaut und  man produziert dort mittlerweile mit über neun Brennblasen ein jährliches Volumen von rund 5.600.000 Liter. Beide Brennereien entnehmen das Wasser lokalen Quellen (Robbie Dubh) und teilen sich Kesselschmiede, Küfer sowie den Brennmeister. Der handverlesene, geschnittene und getrocknete Torf unterscheidet Balvenie von der großen Schwester Glenfiddich.

Herstellung: Es wird Gerste aus eigenem Anbau verwendet, ebenso wird einen eigene Malztenne betrieben. Die Balvenie Malts sind honigtonig mit klaren Orangennoten.

Ausbau: Erste und zweite Füllung Bourbonfässer, dann 10-12 Monate im süßen Oloroso-Holz.
 
Beschreibung: Bernsteinfarben mit Aromen von Orangen und Sherry. Am Gaumen vollmundig mit ausgewogenen und ausgereiften Aromen von Nuss, Sherry, Orange und Heidekraut. Langer, angenehm deutlicher Abgang.

Empfehlung: Pur genießen.
